Safe Work Method Statements and Site Specific Risk Assessments are completed at the start of each new job to identify potential hazards to staff and the public. These forms outline the general safety procedures followed by OTRS staff and subcontractors and also document how each potential hazard will be controlled.

To ensure the safety of both tradesmen and the public OTRS uses site specific devices on different projects :

  • Guardrail and/or scaffold - a legal requirement for work carried out over 1.8m off the ground which acts as a physical barrier to falling people and objects. It's fitted around the perimeter of the roof or to the side of the building
  • Harnesses and fall arrest devices - our staff are trained in the use of harness and rope systems and they regularly use inertia reels as part of their personal safety
  • Fixed anchors - or fall anchors are becoming commonly used as permanent fixtures on roofs to allow access to a number of different trades.
  • Rubbish chutes - the safest way of transferring debris and rubble from the roof to a builders skip
