Fully Licensed & Insured

On Top Roofing Solutions Pty Ltd is fully licensed and insured, holding public liability of $20 million cover.

You should always check your tradesperson is licensed before you hire. In NSW licensing protects you in the following ways:

  • you deal with a legitimate business

  • the tradesperson has the right qualifications for the job

  • you enjoy better consumer protection

  • you help to keep the shonks out.

A tradesperson must be licenced for:

  • residential building work valued at more than $5,000 in labour and materials

  • ALL specialist work regardless of its cost. This includes electrical wiring,
plumbing, draining and gasfitting work and air conditioning and refrigeration work (except plug-in appliances).

Our team are covered by compulsory workers compensation. If employers are not insured, you the consumer could be liable to pay the costs of any claim. In some circumstances, under the Workers Compensation Act 1987, these people can be regarded as your employees.

Important: A builder or tradesperson who does not operate under a trade or company name cannot usually take out insurance to cover themselves.

Home Building Compensation Fund (formerly Home Owners Warranty)

Insurance under the Home Building Compensation Fund needs to be provided by a builder or tradesperson before taking any money (including a deposit) from a home owner (including an owner-builder) under a residential building contract and before starting any work under that contract.

From 1 February 2012, insurance under the Home Building Compensation Fund is required to be obtained where the contract price is over $20,000.

Where the contract price or the reasonable market cost of the labour and materials involved does not exceed the above threshold, there is no legal requirement to obtain insurance under the Home Building Compensation Fund.

Contractors who carry out residential building work must still hold an appropriate licence with Fair Trading where the labour and materials involved are valued at over $5,000.

On Top Roofing Solutions holds eligibility for insurance under the Home Building Compensation Fund and will arrange insurance as required.
